Obituary of Esmeralda Flores

Esmeralda Flores ~ 64 Battle Ground, Washington July 20, 1951 ~ February 2, 2016 Esmeralda ‘Lai’ Flores went to meet her Heavenly Father on February 2, 2016 in Vancouver, WA after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Lai was born to Lasaro & Juanita Resendez on July 20, 1951 in Sunnyside, WA where she resided until she was married. On May 9th, 1970, Lai married the love of her life, Heraclio ‘Rock’ Flores. After they married they moved to SW Washington, eventually making Battle Ground, WA their home. They continued to live in Battle Ground until the time of her death. Lai was a loving mother to her two daughters, Sabrina Flores-Tucker and Donaciana ‘Nita’ Rudd. Although she only had two children, it was not uncommon for her to take in nieces and nephews during the summer months or when they were attending local colleges. During most of her life, Lai worked in the banking industry and retired in 2006 from Washington Mutual Bank. Lai loved her family more than anything and spent most of her time doting on her five grandchildren; Tyler Flores-Tucker, Sydney Flores-Tucker, Ricky Rudd, Brittany Rudd and Sienna Rudd. She became ‘Mana’ to everyone she met and most weekends you could find her watching one of her grandkids playing at a sporting event. Lai loved to volunteer for many causes she felt passionate about. Over the years she was involved in Make A Wish, Birth Right, Relay For Life, as well as volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Lai was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. Lai also loved to travel. She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to many exciting places. She loved accompanying her family or friends on various excursions and was always up for an adventure. When Lai wasn’t spending time with her family, volunteering, or traveling she enjoyed going to the casino with her husband. Lai is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, “Rey”. Lai is survived by; her husband, her two daughters, son in-laws; Keith Tucker and Monty Rudd, and her five grandchildren. She also leaves behind eleven siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. To say we will miss our wife, mother, Mana, sister, aunt, & friend would be an understatement. May you rest in peace knowing we will love you forever!
