RUTH MURRIEL (NENNO) STEPHENS
June 1, 1923 ~ March 4, 2015
" Ruth was always at the ready to help family and friends with projects and dreams, and to share smiles."
Ruth and her twin brother Paul were born in Albion, NY, to Clara Oakes Nenno and Oliver Vincent Nenno. She was raised in Hornell, NY.
Ruth married Robert W. Stephens after he was discharged from the Air Force following World War II. They resided in Rochester and Massena, NY, prior to moving west to Wenatchee, WA, where they raised their children, and then moved to Vancouver, WA in 1969.
Ruth was trained as a medical secretary, but her great calling was as a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her continuously full cookie jar, her enjoyment of knitting, quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, African violets, and her love for her family.
She was a founding member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a volunteer for Babies In Need.
Ruth is survived by her son, Robert David Stephens (Stephanie) of Hoodsport, WA; her daughter, Patricia Anne Stephens of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Dale Stephens (Darci) of Sandy, UT, Diana Stephens of Bend, OR, and Rachel Martin (Casey) of Portland, OR; soon-to-be six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her brothers, Richard and Paul; and two grandchildren, Joel and Grady Stephens.
A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
Please send memorials to All Saints Episcopal Church and Babies In Need, PO Box 65825, Vancouver, WA 98665.
