Gary Roy Magoon

November 15, 1948 - January 15, 2018

Gary Roy Magoon, 69, passed away on January 15, 2018 at Vancouver, Washington.   Gary was born on November 15, 1948 at Tacoma, Washington to Maybelle Rose (Coleman) and Harold John Magoon.  When Gary was a child the family moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho.  He attended school in Spirit Lake and always considered it home.

Gary made his way to The Dalles, Oregon in the early 80’s. There he worked at the Westgate Market for close to 25 years, until it closed in 2008. Then he went to work The Cherry Growers also in The Dalles.

He enjoyed demolition derbies, both building cars and driving.  He loved fishing and gardening.

He served proudly in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his Brother, Garold “Tom” Magoon of Washougal, Washington and Sister, Judy Dudley of Marshfield, Missouri.  He is survived by three Children; Belinda Bishop of Louisiana, Diane Houchin of Montana and Bobby Magoon of Utah; many Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Special friend Tammy Cloud and many other friends in The Dalles, which he considered family.   He was preceded in death by his parents, dad in 1997 and mom 2000 as well as older brother John Magoon in 2003.

Services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:00PM at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon

A no-host luncheon for family and friends to share memories and stories will be at Hometown Buffet at 10542 SE Washington St, Portland, Oregon, immediately following the services

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
