Marion Klitza
March 24, 1931 - March 6, 2018
Marion Klitza was born March 24, 1931 in Wembley, England. She came to the United States, met and married her husband of nearly 60 years, Franz Klitza, whom she met when she was an announcer on KPFA radio in Berkeley, California. She was a teacher who spent most of her career at Bentley school in Oakland. With her husband, and children she learned to sail and race their Santa Cruz 27 “Bloody Mary” in the Bay Area. She spent most of her retirement in Vancouver, Washington and enjoyed knitting, having learned during WWII, knitting scarves for the soldiers, and traveling with her husband. They enjoyed exercising together at the Lakeshore Athletic club. She was a voracious reader who loved poetry, especially Langston Hughes.
On March 6, 2018 Marion died in an automobile accident in Vancouver, WA. She is survived by her husband Franz Clark Klitza, son Ian Sebastian Klitza, and daughter Suzanna Klitza Litwin. Marion was fond of birds so In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Audubon Society
