Obituary of Sharon Kay Shull
Sharon Kay was born on August 19, 1937 in Oregon City, Oregon to parents Claude and Helen Moreland. She lived in many areas of Oregon throughout her life. Sharon attended Lewis and Clark College graduating with a teaching degree in 1958. She taught primary grades for nearly 40 years at Portland public schools Sacajawea and Jason Lee- loving every minute of it! She always had the best stories about her students!!
In 1969 during a parent-teacher conference, Sharon met Thomas Stewart whose daughter Martha was in her class. They married on valentine’s day 1970. He passed away in 1991.
Sharon took on the role of mother to Mike and Martha and did a wonderful job of it, despite 10 year old Mike’s words of wisdom, “you knew this job was dangerous when you took it!”
Sharon was very active in Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron twice, but her biggest honor was serving as Grand Organist. She had a passion for music and was quite accomplished at piano and organ.
In 1993 Sharon got reacquainted with widowed and long time family friend Joseph Shull and they married in 1994. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time at the beach in their RV. Many good times for all!
Sharon’s greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren-Matthew, Stewart, Elizabeth, and Ian. They could always count on Grandma to read stories and serve them her extra special “secret recipe” macaroni and cheese- Kraft!
Sharon passed away peacefully on June 2nd in the loving care of the Bogdan family at Best Care Adult Family Home after a long illness.
She is survived by spouse Joseph L. Shull; son Michael Stewart, his spouse Shirlee and their son Ian; daughter Martha Ramsay, her spouse Earle and their son Stewart, his spouse Carissa and their soon to be born son Liam James; daughter Kristen Storer, her spouse Casey and their children Matthew and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by first husband Thomas Scott Stewart.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday June 16th at 11 am at Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1740 SE 139th Ave. Portland, Oregon 97233.
In Loving Memory
