Darrel Joe Barta

He also leaves behind two great grandsons, Ace and Landan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Darrel also leaves behind his trusty companion, Diesel, a rescue from the Humane Society who was always by Darrel's side.
Darrel Joe Barta was born June 2, 1935 and died June 30, 2018. HIs parents Joe and Mildred Barta preceded him in death as did his brother, Donald Barta, sister, Betty Antik, and son Leslie and nephew John.
Darrel served in the United States Navy, even enlisting before he was of age. He was one of the few of our Veterans awarded his high school diploma at the age of 69. Because of his service he was able to travel the world, but just because you were in the Navy doesn't mean you knew how to swim, one of the few things Darrell let you know he did not know how to do.
Darrel touched a the lives of a lot of people and was a well known barber for over 50 years. His gift of storytelling was probably one of the many reasons that kept his customers coming back. He loved the Reno Air Races, working with wood, old cars and, of course, his enormous Goofy collection. Later in life, Darrel developed a love of reading and kept up with current affairs reading at least two papers a day.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 at The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Longview, Washington.
