Although Shirley and I were not close, she's the mom of my most treasured guy friend. Ken and I are like brother and sister; he has taught me much about compassion and living a caring life. Shirley knitted a comforter for me in the 80's that kept me warm for years and I loved it to pieces. I thank her for raising a strong Oregon family and most of all for instilling the softer side of life in her rough and tumble boys. Be free Shirley, you did this well.
