August 26, 1947 ~ April 19, 2019
Lewis "Bud" Shields Jr. born August 26, 1947 in Wallace Idaho to Lewis and Evelyn Shields. Bud graduated in 1968 and shortly after he joined the United States Navy. During his service Bud met his sweetheart Sue,at the Santa Ana Marine base in Santa Ana California where they both served. Two weeks after their first date Bud and Sue were married on October 9, 1969. Bud finished his tour aboard the U.S.S Midway. Bud and Sue settled in Vancouver Washington where they bought their home and raised their three children Randy, Alice and Scott. Bud worked for Alco, Boise Cascade and the Vancouver school district, where he worked until he retired. Bud liked attending the schools sporting events like wrestling and football. Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching his three children and seven grandchildren grow up. Bud was a jokester and made sure he told everyone all the jokes and silly stories he knew. There was never a time when he wasn't laughing or trying to have a good time. He was always good at putting a smile on your face before you left. His favorite way to pass time was to play dice, talking on the phone and spending time with Sue. Every year he would help Sue set up all of her Christmas lights and jar food from the garden, he was always proud to show off what they had accomplished. Sadly he passed due to pneumonia and sepsis. Bud was a very loving man who cared for every person he met. He will forever be loved and missed. Papa Bud was the best we could have ever asked for and more.
