Obituary of Michael Patrick Lynch
On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, our Dad, Michael Patrick Lynch, passed away at age 69.
Mike was born on July 1, 1949 in Portland, OR to Raymond and Geraldine (Geri) Lynch.
He enlisted in the Army National Gaurd in 1968 he served 18 years, finishing his military career at Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 218th Field Artillery Regiment as Supply Sergent.
He married his first wife, Ava, in 1969 and together they raised two daughters, Tina Ray and Kim.
In 1986 he became his own boss, joining with his brother Ryan and stepfather Harold (Pete) they grew the chimney cleaning business into a full fireplace and tempered glass company.
Mike was an NRA member and was passionate about gun rights, as member of the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club he promoted gun safety to encourage lawful ownership and proper gun use. He was a member of the 1992 USA Olympic Shooting team that shot in Barcelona, bringing home several medals. In May of 2012 the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club honored Mike by naming the newest match the "Mike Lynch Perpetual Trophy Match". He was proud to have called that match for the last seven years.
Mike was a member of American Legion Post 134, in Portland, OR. He was the Finance Officer and the Post was his home away from home, his second family.
Mike was devoted to and loved his family very much. He did everything to ensure everyone was included whether you stepped into this family yesterday or you were born into the family years ago... Every child always got a gift, and every person went home with a full belly.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife Gloria, father Ray and his mother Geri, his brother Kevin, his stepfather Pete, stepmother Shirley, and stepbrothers Steve and Roland.
He is survived by his two daughters Tina Ray and Kim, his grandson Allen Michael, his four granddaughters, Samantha, Jessica, Dayna, and Krysten, his seven great grandsons, Kaleb, Tristan, Korbin, Julian, Zaiden, Kolton, and Karter and two great granddaughters, Gwenivere and Brynleigh. His three brothers Kelly, Ryan and Lorin, his step brothers Mike and Lance, and six step sisters, Teri, Shelly, Becki, Niki, Lucy, and Cheri and numerous nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Vancouver Water Resource Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way, Vancouver, WA 98661-5581 from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
