I was so very sorry to read of your mom's passing in the Columbian. She was so dear! When I was doing a long-term sub in reading at Riverview some years ago, she would substitute for Sandi Babbitt, my aide at the time. I always appreciated her warm, caring and conscientious manner. She also kindly found someone for my daughter, Senia, to shadow when Senia was interested in pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy. And later, when Senia had her OT degree, your mom would always ask about her.
When I was teaching at Marrion Elementary, it was fun to run into her at Fred Meyer's, and we would stand in the aisle and visit away and catch up on our families. She was so proud of you girls! I can only imagine how much you will miss her concern for others, her spirit and zest for life. My condolences to you! Barb Jutila

I think Cheryl would like a tree planted in her name. She was involved with Friends of Trees in Vancouver and she cared a lot about the environment. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

Dear Lauren and Elizabeth,
I have known your Mom for over 30 years. It was amazing how we both would end up at the same schools in Evergreen throughout the years.Your Mom had valuable insights and ideas regarding my students and to my own handicapped son. My students always loved working with your Mom. She was such a kind soul. Your Mom was one of the most giving, positive and caring people I have ever known. She was always there for me through thick and thin. We had many good times (when we both retired) taking walks, talking and antiquing, we both loved vintage. My heart is truly heavy for your loss, your Mom was such a good woman. My prayers and love are with you and yours.
Rest in sweet Peace dear friend.
Sincerely,
Carollee Kraut

Dear Lauren and Liz, I met your mom in 1979 when we were both working at ESD 112 and our friendship continued through the years as we worked for Evergreen School District. Since she had grandchildren and I had a grandson about the same time, we shared so many "grandma" stories. I will truly miss her kind spirit and I know you also have a huge hole to fill in your lives. May precious memories comfort you during this time of great sorrow. Her family and friends have lost a kind, generous, and faithful friend! Nancy Zetlmaier

Dear Lauren and Liz,
I was so sad to read about your sweet mom passing. I've been flooded with memories of time spent with you girls and your mom and dad. I have such fond memories of tea parties, birthdays, holidays and a camping trip. I can see your mom's radiant smile and hear her infectious laugh.
Cheryl was one of the kindest and most loving and thoughtful people I've ever known. We had a lot of fun together, whether we were shopping and preparing for the flower concessions for the musicals at Mountain View or Girl Scout crafts or just sitting around at one of our houses chatting.
I will never forget when my son died unexpectedly, your mom was one of the first to come over, bearing a wonderful meal, and after lots of hugs and tears, she went off to clean our bathrooms. I was so amazed at her thoughtfulness, knowing we'd have people showing up and that bathrooms would be last on my list of things to do. She was a person who gave to others without a thought for her own inconvenience. I know how big of a hole her passing leaves for you.
My heart breaks for you, and our family sends lots of love to you both. Please call or stop by if you're in the neighborhood.
The Babbitts,
David, Sandi, Jessica and Kailyn
