Obituary of Carolyn Dee Pasquan

Carolyn “Lynn” Dee Pasquan May 13, 1930 – September 11, 2020 Carolyn was born on May 13, 1930 to Frank and Ruby Hynes, in Ketchikan, Alaska. She grew up in Seattle and especially loved her home located in Ballard. As a child, she enjoyed walking to the Golden Gardens Park to play at the beach. She also spent her childhood summers at the “ranch” in Redmond, where her Great Aunt Agnes lived and took care of her and her cousins. She attended Whitworth Elementary, Loyal Heights Elementary, James-Monroe Jr. High, Garfield High and St. Paul’s for Girls in Walla Walla, WA. She moved with her family to Juneau, Alaska as a young teenager when her father became the Regional Director for the Fish & Wildlife Service. She attended Juneau High School and married her high school sweetheart, Harry Aase in 1948 at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Juneau, Alaska. Her sister Jean Springgate was her matron-of-honor. As sometimes happens when marrying at 18 years old, the marriage did not last. Lynn married Jack Pasquan on November 16, 1950 in Juneau, Alaska. Like her father, she enjoyed salmon fishing with Jack in the early part of her marriage before Jack switched over to gillnet fishing. Lynn earned a certificate in Bookkeeping & Accounting at Juneau-Douglas Community College in 1964 and earned a certificate as a Gray Lady from the National Red Cross in 1965. Lynn discovered she enjoyed working as an accountant for the Federal Government (a talent passed on to her by her mother). Lynn also worked as a Bookkeeper for The Prospector Hotel when it first opened during the heyday of the Alaska Pipeline construction in the 1970’s. Lynn enjoyed gardening, (even weeding) her & Jack’s one acre and a ¼ of beach front property on North Douglas Island. She loved her view of the Gastineau Channel and Mt. Juneau. She also enjoyed needlepoint, rug hooking kits, and crossword puzzles before Macular Degeneration took her sight away. She was a supporter of the Christian Broadcasting Network. She is survived by her son, Joel Pasquan of Haines, Alaska; her daughter Lisa McAleese of Vancouver, Washington; nephew Lee Springgate of Port Ludlow, WA; niece Kathy Montler of Camas, WA; and niece Jeri Craine of Renton, WA. Her wishes did not include any services and her ashes will be interred at the Redmond Pioneer Cemetery, buried next to her beloved Great Aunt Agnes, who lived with her, her sister Jean and her parents during the winters in Seattle.
