Obituary of Virginia Lee Lawrence
Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia Lee Lawrence, born 9/13/1925, passed on peacefully on peacefully on February 24, 2021. What a right ray of sunshine! She was always up for a laugh and a card game.
John, her late husband, wrote, “In the fall of 1943, I entered the Air Force, and shortly thereafter married Virginia Williams, a lovely newcomer to Perkins Oklahoma. I gladly returned from the War in 1945 to our newborn, John Walter III.”
They then moved to West Texas, where on March 17, 1952, their daughter Lisa was born in an afternoon dust storm. Most of their marriage was spent in Odessa, TX, until they retired in Washington state to be near their daughter and granddaughters, Myra, Giselle, and Laura.
Virginia, or Jenny as we called her, was quite a lovely, and very loving woman, and many people adopted her as their own. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband John, son John, granddaughter Myra, and her son-in-law Ron.
She was so sweet and generous, lavishing her family and friends with love, care, and many gifts. She crocheted many Afghans, cooked wonderful holiday meals, and supported her granddaughters in their dance education and performances. She was totally devoted to family. Jenny had a great compassion for animals and children, and wanted only the best for all. In her last few years, she delighted in the friendships she made in her card groups. In 2010, she “adopted” her daughter’s partner, Jim Kindred, as her new son.
Virginia is survived by daughter Lisa Aschoff and granddaughters Giselle, and Laura Aschoff, and great granddaughter, Khadijah Ibrahim. Jim Kindred, and many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends were treasured.
Will schedule a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jenny would love donations to the Humane Society of your choice.
