Beatriz Marino Javier
Vancouver, Washington
July 30, 1923 ~ March 23, 2021
Beatriz Mariño Javier was born July 30, 1923 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. Her parents were Trinidad Ceriales and Maxima Diaz Mariño of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. She attended West Elementary School, Negros Oriental High School, Silliman University and Far Eastern University where she obtained a degree in Education. She completed post-graduate studies at Foundation University. When the Japanese government was established during WWII she was hired as a teacher. During the war the family evacuated to the mountains multiple times to escape area conflicts. As the eldest daughter Beatriz took care of her five younger siblings. On March 18, 1944, Beatriz married Miguel Capili Javier from Biñan, Laguna. To this union three children, Manuel Luis, Lorenzo, and Ruby Catalina were born. Beatriz taught at Pinucauan Elementary School in Vallehermoso and at Bacong Elementary School until her retirement. Her passion for teaching was exceptional, her faith and serene manner an inspiration. Beatriz enjoyed sewing clothes, especially for children. She volunteered at the local hospital, making thousands of heart pillows for chaplains’ calling cards and bean bags for stroke patients. Interestingly, she was a descendant of Doña Marcela Mariño Agoncillo, the principal seamstress of the first Philippine Flag. The two bear a striking resemblance. Beatriz passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at home in Vancouver, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents Trinidad (Edad) and Maxima (Elek) Mariño, brothers Pedro, Julio, Atilano, Dioscoro, Gaspar and Romulo. She is survived by siblings Luis and wife Flora Generoso Mariño of Dumaguete, Concepcion Mariño Villegas of Tabon, Vallehermoso, Adoracion Mariño Fernandez of Davao City, and Cenen Diaz Mariño of Talisay, Cebu; children Manuel Luis and wife Merlyn Pinili Javier of Dumaguete, Lorenzo Javier of Dumaguete, and Ruby and husband John Kinkennon of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren Maria Concepcion Pinili-Javier and husband Geoffrey Cimafranca of Spiritwood, Canada, Mark Pinili Javier of Spiritwood, Canada, Maria Theresa Pinili Javier and husband Eric Fejedero of Minot, North Dakota, Greg Lorenz Sayre Javier and wife Criz Baligasa of Dumaguete, Gratia Loren Sayre Javier of Dumaguete, Grazia Lorez Sayre Javier and Chris Ward of Fort Pierce, Florida, Giorgio Lonzo Sayre Javier of Bohol and David Javier Kinkennon of Omaha, Nebraska; greatgrandchildren Beatriz Margaret Javier Cimafranca of Saskatoon, Canada, Gregory Lore Javier of Dumaguete, Georgie Leine Javier of Germany, Griezah Lorea Javier of Dumaguete and Jayden Ike Javier of Australia; numerous nephews and nieces, relatives and friends
