This is Judy Gilmore/ Schrunk. I went to school with Shawn and Ralph. I got to know Mrs Kirby quite well as I worked in the restaurant with her and Mr Kirby during my college years. She taught me a lot about hard work and a job well done. She always had a smile and a howdy for everyone that walked in the doors. The food they served was homemade and delicious. When there was pie left over at the end of the day she’d often let me take some home to my mom and dad. She will be missed by all. Sending prayers to the kids and grand kids and they say good bye. Til we meet again!!

So many good memories. She was always kind to everyone. My mom worked at the diner with Maureen and got to know her well. She and Del raised a very very good and caring family. They helped shape Rogue River and made us all a little closer to one another. RIP and you are now in GODS hands.

Dear Family and Friends,
I have so many memories of Maurine as a very young girl. Working for her and Dell from 15 years of age then through my college summers, at Kirby's Fountain Lunch, was a huge part of my life growing up in Rogue River. Maurine was like a second mom. I influencing my life in many ways.
She was the best and fastest pie baker in, I am going to say, " All of Oregon ''. People came for miles just to enjoy her pies of every sort, for every season. I loved watching her make her pie crust in between serving customers. I learned much about the texture of pie crust from her. She wrote a little cookbook after she and Dell sold the restaurant. The other recipe I cherish is her Roquefort Dressing. Nothing better and I still make it today, thinking of her each time I make it.
She would hold down the fort while Dell treated us to a quick water ski run on the Rogue, during work breaks in the summer. We enjoyed trips to Shasta Lake and going out to dinner when we broke a sales record at the restaurant. This often happened during Rooster Crow week.
Maurine didn't know a stranger as her warm smile, love of singing and positive outlook on life was contagious. She was the main attraction of their business success . . . Dell's burgers and sandwiches couldn't be beat either. They were a family affair and I am so grateful to have been a part of it all. If I wanted to know about any happenings or updates about people in my hometown over the years, Maurine was my go to person all these years.
Loving thoughts & Prayers, Renee Niquette

I will always think of Maurine as Sister Kirby since I first met her at church. She was the first one to greet me as I came into the meeting after just having arrived in Southern Oregon. She mentioned that she, too, had a Pammy in her family. I don't recall ever seeing her without a warm smile, which always cheered me. She has been missed since leaving Southern Oregon and I'm grateful to have known her.

Only those close to Maureen will appreciate this photo! She is a sweetheart and always looked forward to her York mint patties every week. We loved visiting with her and look forward to seeing her again. Hope they have York mint patties in Heaven!

Grandma Kirby was a very special lady. She had the power to make you feel like you were the most important person in her life at the moment. She was so loving, caring and one of the most special people I've ever met. Van was so blessed to have her as a grandmother. He will hold his memories close to his heart forever. He loved her dearly and in a short amount of time so did I. We regret not being able to spend more time with her as she was nothing but light and joy in our lives. We will miss you so much Gigi, you are the best and we will see you soon beloved Grandma of ours.

Aunt Maurine kept in touch! She told me many times, "I have a phone and I know how to use it!" My very first memory of her was when we moved from southern California to Baker, Oregon, and we parked our little trailer in your driveway for a while. That memory is quite vague, but the next memory I have is of her at the hot dog stand near Rogue River. She was always bustling around and busy, and smiling. I don't ever remember seeing her without a smile on her face. I loved her great faith in Christ and Heavenly Father, and in her strong love for her family. She will truly be missed, and always loved.
