July 11, 1943 ~ September 1, 2015
David Cumlander, 72, of Vancouver, Washington passed away September 1, 2015 at his home from complications due to congestive heart failure. He was born July 11, 1943 in Seattle, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents Rudy and Phyllis Cumlander. David was an only child. He graduated in 1961 from Ocosta High School in Westport, Washington. David was very active in sports- lettering in football, basketball, and track. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam conflict. During that time, he traveled to many places including Japan, the Philippines, Guam, and Hawaii, servicing electronics on military planes. David worked as a field technician for Tektronix for over 30 years and retired from Xerox almost a decade later, after they bought out the printer division from Tek. David was possibly the most knowledgeable technician in the company, excelling at his understanding of the products and how they worked. David is survived by two daughters, Tamara Barron and her husband Kevin Barron, of Spokane, Washington and Mary Levenhagen, and her husband Brian Levenhagen, of Vancouver, Washington. He also has three grandsons that he couldn’t have been more proud of, a fact which you knew instantly when he pulled out his phone to show you pics of the boys anytime he talked about them-Sky Cumlander, Nathan Barron, and Christopher Barron. David was an avid sports enthusiast all his life. He had season tickets to the University of Portland Pilots men’s basketball team for nearly a decade, and became a season ticket holder to the Portland Thunder’s arena football team two seasons ago when they came to Portland. Cascadia Cremation and Burial Services is handling David’s cremation. A remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 1-3 pm.
