Obituary of Sandra Celestine Jackson

Sandra Celestine Jackson (aka Sandy Barnes) was called home to the Lord on October 18, 2021, at 74 years of age while surrounded by the love of her family. Sandra was born June 11, 1947, in Portland, Oregon; but lived in the Vancouver area most of her life. Sandra believed Jesus was her personal Lord and Savior and prayed for her family daily. One of her favorite scriptures is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 Sandra graduated from Evergreen High School, class of 1965; and retired from the Evergreen School District in 2010 where she taught secondary education/language arts for 31 years. She was a long-time flutist in the One More Time Around Again Marching Band and very active within her church. She loved music, singing in the choir, and enjoyed teaching vacation bible school. She loved her family, creative writing, a challenging game of scrabble, coloring and playing word games on her phone. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping, gardening, and playing the piano. Sandra is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gary W Jackson of Vancouver, WA; her sister, Clara Northrop of Vancouver, WA; two daughters, Tina (and Rich) Steigleman of Prescott, AZ; Christa Finney of Vancouver, WA; and two grandchildren, Stevie Steigleman and Kaci Finney; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to the American Lung Association.
