We would like to extend our deepest condolences. Kathleen worked with Dr. Mengelberg for 20 years in OBGYN at Kaiser Permanente. She was a wonderful, caring physician, and will be sorely missed.

Dr. Mengelberg delivered my son in 1976. She was the doctor on duty that evening, so I had never met her before. As she wheeled me into the delivery room, the nurse said, "Shall we have the father dress and come in?" Dr. Mengelberg answered, "OK. But if he talks as much as his wife, he'll have to leave!" I decided after that delivery that she should become my regular OB/Gyn. When I went to my first routine check-up with her, I was struggling to understand her accent. She said, "OK. Now it's time to shake your chest." So, I obediently started shaking my boobs back and forth. She said, "Vhat are you doink?" Sheepishly, I said, "Shaking my chest???" She said, "NO! I'M going to "shake" it. Like this!" And she proceeded to give me a breast exam! Then it donned on me, she was saying "check" It was time to "check" my chest! After that initial delivery and "shake-up", she went on to take care of my next 2 pregnancies. I always reflect on Dr. Mengelberg with fondness.

Dr. Mengelberg was was my OB-GYN at Kaiser. She oversaw my two pregnancies, both of which I delivered at home. I so appreciated Dr. Mengelberg's support of my home birth decision. As I remember her saying, for a normal birth, home is a good place to be. But, be aware of problems and have a plan for any eventuality. I did, and both births went
perfectly. I remember Dr. Mengelberg with great fondness. My condolences to her family.

My sympathies to the family of Dr. Mengelberg who I remember from many department of ob-gyn functions. My father hired her to join the group @ Kaiser. Those were the days. . .
Your memories will keep her with you always.
