LAVERNE ELIZABETH DANKO
August 7, 1928 ~ November 16, 2015
LaVerne Elizabeth Danko of Vancouver, WA passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on November 16, 2015. She was born August 7, 1928, in Whitaker, PA, one of three daughters born to Helen and Louis Uramey. She spent her early years growing up in the Pittsburgh, PA area. She attended night school and worked as a metallographer at Carnegie Mellon University, where she met the love of her life, Dr. Joseph C. Danko, whom she later married and preceded her in death.
LaVerne was a dedicated mother to her three children; Christopher L. Danko, Kimberly Ann Klein and Mark J. Danko. She enjoyed life to its fullest including golf, bowling, volunteering and culinary skills. An open door and gourmet meal welcomed those from far and near.
She is preceded in death by her older sister, Helen Louise Norbut; survived by her younger sister, Patricia Kelly, her three children and daughter-in-law Debra Danko, son-in-law Robert Klein; grandchildren Adam Danko, Elizabeth Parady, Matthew Danko, Kara Salerno, Michael Klein and five loving great grandchildren.
LaVerne has touched the lives of all those fortunate to have known her through her loving kindness and giving spirit. She will be missed by all.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 17010 NE 9th Street, Vancouver, WA.
