In Loving Memory
Shawn Daran Womelsdorf
Shawn Daran Womelsdorf passed away tragically on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2015 in Vancouver, WA., when he was struck down by a car while crossing the roadway. He was 46 years old.
Shawn is preceded in death by his mother Sandra Womelsdorf, his maternal grandfather Augustus Brooks Jr., and paternal grandparents Oakland and Esther Womelsdorf.
Shawn is survived by his close-knit and loving family; father Donald Womelsdorf Sr., his brother Donald Womelsdorf Jr., and sisters Loya Riggan, Susan Womelsdorf, and Jodie Catania. Other surviving family members include Shawn’s grandmother Patsy Brooks and countless uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces, all of whom miss him dearly.
Shawn will be lovingly remembered for bringing happiness and light to all with his funny jokes, carefree spirit, and great love of his family. He was always there for anyone that needed him. Shawn’s time on this earth was not long enough, but he touched so many lives in that short amount of time. He was also a talented person with a great ear for music, and Shawn loved to karaoke and did it well. He could play the guitar and keyboard as well as the drums, and boy, did he love Elvis, Johnny Cash and good old rock and roll! Shawn was a rare breed in that he was amazingly selfless, kind, and loving. We, his family, believe Shawn is now in the care of our Lord Jesus and with our mother Sandra, and that Heaven is a better place with him there.
A Celebration of Life Service for Shawn will be held Saturday, January 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at Hazen Chapel Wesleyan located at 38813 NE 119th Ave. Amboy, WA 98601.
The service will be immediately followed by a gathering at Mt. Valley Grange located at 40107 NE 221st Ave., Amboy, WA., where we can visit, enjoy good food and share happy stories of the wonderful person Shawn was and the impact he made on each of our lives. This is a potluck-style food event, so bring your favorite dish to share. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!!
