Shelleigh Anne Nelson
1950-2016
Gone Now…But Never Forgotten!
Shelleigh Anne Nelson, 66, of Vancouver, Washington passed away October 11, 2016 at peace Health hospital in Vancouver, Washington after a short battle with 4th Stage Lung Cancer that was diagnosed in early June this year.
HER STORY
Shelleigh was born in Sunnyside Washington, a few miles down the road from Grandview where her family lived at the time. Her family moved a few years later to Okanagan where they lived a short time before moving back to and settling in Sunnyside Washington. Her father opened a car dealership with a friend and business partner until opening a hardware store in Toppenish Washington.
Shelleigh graduated from Sunnyside High school in 1968 and immediately went to college to get a 2 year degree in Accounting. Later in life she went back to college to get another 2 year degree in accounting before securing a job at Chicago Title where she retired.
She met Rick, her husband in Beaverton, Oregon and they married in 1976 before moving to Kennewick, Washington where Rick worked in car sales. Due to encouragement from Ricks step father Larry Cable, they moved to Wasilla, Alaska, and then later to Anchorage where Rick ventured up to the North Slope in Prudhoe Bay. Due to a friend in San Diego having cancer, Shelleigh and Rick moved down to Sand Diego to help take care of him until he passed away.
Shelleigh never had children but her love & affection was placed on her dogs....the last one Souy which was a Malamute. She and Rick both loved this dog with all their hearts.
HER FAMILY TIES
Shelleigh was preceded in death by her husband Rick and father Donald Galbraith. She is survived by her mother Betty Galbraith, Brother Scott Galbraith, sister Lesleigh Jacobs, brother Paul Galbraith (Florida). Also Surviving is her Niece Krystee Gout (Yakima, Washington) and Nephew Sean Jacobs (Georgia)
HER HOBBIES & INTERESTS
Her dogs were her main interest--Samsoo, Lady and Souy. Rick and Shelleigh put in a stream and pond in their back yard where Moby Dick and his friends (Japanese Koi fish) swim back and forth. She loved investing money and helping people with taxes and business expenses. She was a master at handling money.
She is gone from this earth now....but will be remembered by those who knew her best.
