Paul Lawrence Wilson
Sept. 9, 1930 - April 19, 2017
Paul L. Wilson, 86, passed away on April 19, 2017 at The Ray Hickey Hospice House, Vancouver, WA following a long illness. He was born in Bellflower, California on September 9, 1930.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pruda (Chesebro) Wilson of Ventura, California. His older brother, Donald E. and older sister, Patricia L. also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his spouse, Maureen O. (McCarthy) Wilson of Vancouver, eldest son, Jeffery W. Wilson of Springfield, Virginia, three younger children, Kimberly A., Christopher H. and Catherine M., all of Vancouver, WA, and a younger sister Nancy J. Smith of Kent, Ohio. There are also several grandchildren and great grandchildren, living in Vancouver and on the east coast. Paul also has a niece and nephew in Idaho and Ohio.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953. He attended Ventura Junior College in Ventura California, graduating in 1955. His working life included serving as a Computer Programmer (Civil Service)at Land-Air Point Magu for the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska,and as a Computer Systems Specialist for Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, OR from 1967 until his retirement in 2003.
Paul liked to cook (making a mighty tasty garden fresh green bean casserole), work in the yard, do crossword puzzles, read mystery novels, collect Fifty States Commemorative Quarters, watch DVD's ("New Tricks"), watch television ("NCIS"), listen to classical music, taking trips, and camping with his brother, Don.
Inurnment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver, WA. Special thanks to my long friend, Connie Jo Dees, the staff and nurses at PeaceHealth Southwest Hospital, the staff and nurses at The Ray Hickey Hospice House, Jim Hellen at Cascadia Cremation & Burial Services, and Bob McKechnie at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to The Ray Hickey Hospice House at 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661.
