Daniel Edmond DeGagne ~ 63
Vancouver, Washington
April 30, 1952 ~ September 27, 2015
Daniel “Dan” Edmond DeGagne, 63, died at home Sunday September 27th, 2015, after struggling with kidney cancer. He had worked at Gunderson in Portland, building railroad cars for the last 12 years and recently retired after his health started failing. Dan also worked at Gilmore Steel, Hewlitt Packard, and Vanexco.
Dan was born April 30, 1952 in Vancouver, where he lived all his life. He was a Merchant Marine and then served in the US Army in Germany. He enjoyed softball, golf, football, history, music and trivia. He had a passion for the sport of baseball and was an avid Mariners fan who got to see spring training this year and attend three home games in Seattle thanks to the McNay family. He had 2 very special labradors, Tyrus and Belle .
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Chris, at home, siblings, brother, Jim DeGagne and his wife Denise, and Richard DeGagne, of Vancouver. He is also survived by his niece Kerri Cox, and nephew, Matt Jenkins of Idaho, a nephew Cody DeGagne of Vancouver, nephew Tony DeGagne and niece Gina DeGagne of Vancouver. His father Ted, mother Jane, brother Tom and sister Debbie preceded him in death, all of Vancouver. Dan’s extended family “Cowings and McNay’s” includes his brother-in-law Bruce Cowing and sister-in-law Alona, their sons, Adam and Heethe Cowing all of Port Ludlow, Washington, sister-in-law Carolyn Cowing McNay and brother-in-law Roger McNay, niece, Kaley McNay, nephews, Collin McNay and Conner McNay of Beaverton, Oregon.
Dan did not want a service and left this earth in peace to be with his maker. His outlook on life and special humor will be missed. He had a great outlook on life and death. He was loved and adored by his families, friends and neighbors.
Special thanks to Beth his Kaiser hospice nurse who gave him the best quality of life he could have these past few months.
May you rest in peace and continue to bring joy to those in heaven. We love you Dan and will miss you tremendously, until we meet again.
